Spring Will Soon Be Sprung

For we the North, Spring is 65 days away but who’s counting? 😀
There are those who have already started planning their gardens.

They eye new seeds, knowing these seeds are ready and waiting to be sowed. We won’t mention counting down the days to when we  plant outdoors, at least so I’m told. 😛

Bees are an import part of our ecosystem, without them we would miss out or some of our favorite foods. Find out what the buzz is all about .

There was a time I would panic at the sight of a Bee, I’ve never been stung but we are definitely conditioned to fear Bees.
I add plants to my garden to attract bees and other pollinators. Now… I garden right alongside them bees, I tell ya!!!

If you don’t bother them, they don’t bother you.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still nervous around them but so far so good 😊.

You don’t need a huge garden to welcome those Bees , you don’t even need a yard to do this. You can start a container garden. Add things like sunflowers, Marigolds and herbs.

This year when you plan your garden, why not give them Bees a helping hand? There are many types of plants that can be used to attract bees, These are some of my all time favorites. They are very easy to come by and they will definitely brighten your day.

  • Fennel
  • Marigold
  • Echinacea (Coneflower )
  • Sunflower
  • Zinnias
  • Aster
  • Lavender
  • Poppy
  • Verbena
  • Thyme
  • Geranium
  • Sage

You may notice, quite a few of these plants are edible, so not only are you providing a meal for Bees and other pollinators but these plants can be used to make a delicious meal or snacks.
If  you have a herb garden, then you know they love their flowers.

Planning of growing a vegetable garden? Give it a helping hand by adding some of those plants around your vegetable plants to attract pollinators.

Keep those wild thoughts, Bees love wildflowers. Including, yes, I’m going to say it… Dandelion flowers. 😀

Remember Bees (and Butterflies) get thirsty too..
